Toddler-PreS--The early education YouTube star's first picture book will delight fans and likely recruit a new audience. Sporting her signature pink headband and shirt and overalls, Ms. Rachel asks little ones to help her find something special. As they look through different boxes, she prompts young readers to say, "Open" each time to see what's inside. They find a yellow bus, inspiring a rendition of "The Wheels on the Bus." Another box contains a piece of bubblegum, and the following page presents her popular "Icky Sticky Bubble Gum" song. Each time they uncover a new box, Ms. Rachel encourages children to use all of their senses as part of their search, dialoguing with them and giving them opportunities for imaginative play. Finally, the title concludes with a sweet resolution to their exploration. Other early childhood practices that are covered include naming your feelings ("I feel frustrated"), asking for help, and repeating phrases with accompanying hand movements. The narrative will be familiar to established Ms. Rachel admirers, but it might take newbies some page turns to get acclimated. Once they do, the charming interactive aspect will easily make them converts. Dong's illustrations add to the bright and jolly experience, making this a work that kids (and their grown-ups) will want to read again and again. Back matter includes tips for caregivers on ways to encourage brain and language development. VERDICT There will be much demand for this title, especially in libraries with a Ms. Rachel following. Recommended for early childhood shelves.--Shelley M. Diaz
