Horse Rescue: Treasure

by Whitney Sanderson (Author)

Horse Rescue: Treasure
Reading Level: 4th − 5th Grade
Horse Rescue: Treasure is a fictional story based on real horses and people at Little Brook Farm, the country's oldest horse rescue organization, in Old Chatham, New York. 50% of the proceeds from the book will be donated to the farm. The Story: Treasure has never felt like she had a real home. For most of her life, she has been sent to a different camp every summer, then sold at auction. When Treasure is rescued and brought to Little Brook Farm, she doesn't think her life will be any better. Her best friend Opal is gone, and the horses at Little Brook are strange. The thoroughbred Falcon constantly brags about his career as a show jumper, and the pony Winnie steals people's lunches when they're not looking. But Treasure is treated well at Little Brook Farm. She makes new horse and human friends, and the place starts to feel like home. But she is worried because she doesn't have any special talents. Treasure wishes she could be an elegant vaulting horse like Devlin or an athletic jumper like Falcon. When she is put to the task of giving lessons to beginning riders, she feels like a failure. Can Treasure find her place at Little Brook Farm, or will she always feel like the horse that nobody wanted?
