Description
Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny used to live alone in a boxcar. Now they have a home with their grandfather and are going on a bicycle trip. On the first night of their journey, they get caught in a rainstorm, and take shelter in a mysterious, abandoned farm house.
Gertrude Chandler Warner grew up in Putnam, Connecticut. She wrote The Boxcar Children because she had always dreamed about what it would be like to live in a caboose or a freight car--just as the Aldens do. When readers asked for more adventures, Warner wrote more books--a total of nineteen in all. After her death, other authors have continued to write stories about Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny Alden, and today The Boxcar Children(R) series has more than one hundred books. Hollie Hibbert graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho and has been illustrating for children's publishers, advertising agencies, and educational software companies ever since. She lives in Provo, Utah.
