Counting down from 20, this charming board book profiles strong contemporary and historical women ... The choices are solid and represent a diverse range of women and professions. The countdown ends by bringing readers in; number one is 'The 1 and only YOU, a singular sensation. The world is yours to change!'

School Library Journal

PreS-Gr 1--This counting book highlights the accomplishments of 20 women, matching each person with a significant numeral from her life. Fictional character Juno Valentine introduces young readers to past and present "sheroes," beginning with Rosie the Riveter and ending with the reader, reminding all young girls that they can change the world. The text includes athletes Billie Jean King and Megan Rapinoe, politician Shirley Chisholm, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, entertainers Dolly Parton and Rihanna, and activists Rosa Parks and Greta Thunberg. Other women skilled in math, science, fashion, and more are also featured. Bold illustrations complement the simple text. While this collection is diverse and relevant, there is not an established set of criteria for those selected; there are no references or endpapers for further reading. One sentence describes the featured woman's achievements, with occasional famous quotations in speech bubbles interspersed throughout the work. VERDICT Young readers will require guidance to make connections with the quotes, numbers, and text. Though the book is not comprehensive, it is an engaging primer.--Jamie Jensen, Wayne Cox Elem. A Publishers Weekly Bestseller!

That theme of swinging for the fences and going for it is the undercurrent in this book. Even though it's about how they're all awesome, the real undercurrent is, 'Look at all these people who are superheroes who are just like you.' I try to tell that to my daughter. —Hasan Minhaj, in Huffpost
