K-Gr 2--Amelia Bedelia loves going to school because everyone gets along so well, but that changes when they have a rainy period and the students divide into two clubs: Puddle Jumpers and Puddle Stompers. Each club wants her to join them, but how can she choose? She certainly doesn't want hurt anyone's feelings. After a discussion with her parents and a good night's sleep, the girl comes up with the perfect solution to combine the clubs and make everyone happy. This younger Amelia Bedelia lacks the silliness of her bumbling and literal adult self, even as she pictures rain coming down in buckets. The colorful cartoon illustrations have a nice energy, though, and the text is well placed for emerging readers. Overall, this story goes down like a spoonful of sugar, but it is an adequate early reader, and children who enjoy Amelia Bedelia may enjoy reading about her social scrapes.--Melisa Bailey, Harford County Library System, MD
