Starred Review
The truth is...this series may well inspire a new generation of animal scientists and conservationists.

School Library Journal

K-Gr 2--Chock-full of information and humorous comments, this book introduces readers to a variety of bear species. There are many examples of nonfiction text features, such as text boxes, maps, and diagrams. There are also speech bubbles that have some funny comments and several opportunities to compare other animals, such as koalas and penguins. Scientific vocabulary is peppered throughout and will be helpful for developing language skills in younger readers. The artwork is very cartoonish but is in keeping with the light tone of the book. VERDICT Use with elementary schoolers to introduce nonfiction to early readers.--Debbie Tanner, S. D. Spady Montessori Elementary, FL
