by Verveine Oringer (Author)

Reading Level: 4th − 5th Grade
Buttermilk Pumpkin Waffles for breakfast. Beef Bourguignon for dinner. Mochi Donuts for dessert. America's Test Kitchen kid tester Verveine Oringer and her dad, James Beard Award-winning chef Ken Oringer, teach you how to make all of that and more--all gluten-free. Kids can cook like chefs, too! In this middle-grade cookbook, 13-year-old Verveine Oringer (along with her dad, chef and restaurateur Ken Oringer) share kid-tested and kid-approved recipes that are doable, delicious, and also happen to be gluten free. After Verveine was diagnosed with celiac disease in early 2020, the whole Oringer family needed to change the way they ate. With the help of her dad the chef, Verveine and Ken found ways to create approachable recipes that feel a little fancy but are perfect for young chefs! From Miso Banana Bread for breakfast to Chicken Milanese for dinner--plus a chapter of advanced, chef-y recipes thoughtfully explained by Ken--this book will take young chefs on a culinary journey. Seventy plus recipes developed and written by Verveine and Ken have all been kid-tested and kid-approved by America's Test Kitchen Kids' panel of over 15,000 at-home recipe testers to make this book a win for all young chefs.
