Discover the first installment in a brand new series, where the truths behind your favorite monsters are revealed!
When twelve-year-old Lowell moves to a new village, he struggles to fit in at school - he is a bit different, and the bullies don't seem to like different. Then the changes start. At first, Lowell thinks these are just the ordinary, growing-up kind of changes: he gets hairier, his voice gets growlier and his moods are all over the place.
But then one full-moon night, after a very bad day at school, he transforms into a werewolf in front of his twin sister, Lys. Join Lowell as he joins the Monster Support Group in an attempt to return to 'normal.'

Lowell is new to being a monster and seeks the help of the "Monster Support Group" to aid with his changes. Since he's becoming a werewolf, his newfound friends offer to try to change him back. In a bit of a detour halfway through the book, Lowell goes on a mission to discover more about the lore of werewolves; Suárez interjects with references to various versions of the lycanthropy myth through history and different cultures, so monster lovers will particularly love these pages. By the end, Lowell finds his cure, but his support group encourages him to be true to himself. Horror is often a great metaphorical device for exploring societal or mental problems, so a children's series about a group of "monsters" supporting each other is an interesting and promising premise. Images are often large, including full pages and spreads, bridging the gap from an early chapter book to a graphic novel. The monsters are cute and cartoony, so this will be a great recommendation for those looking for something scary who can't quite handle horror. VERDICT A strong start—it will be interesting to see how the series progresses.—Peter Blenski

"In this hilarious, fast paced romp through the mind of a teenager with a monstrous secret, we learn that it's ok to be exactly who we are. This book takes a feeling that we all experience at some point in our lives, and turns it into wonderfully entertaining story that kids and parents alike will love."

"If you like witches, werewolves, and beautifully-drawn graphic novels with quirky characters, you'll love this book as much as I did. If you don't like those things, you might be kinda boring."
