Katya Arnold

Katya Arnold (whose Latin name, if she were a mushroom, would be Katya arnoldi), has hunted mushrooms since she was three. Today Katya finds mushrooms wherever she looks and has hunted them all over the world. She is also a passionate gardener, cook, and art teacher. She has written and illustrated many children's books, including Baba Yaga and The Valiant Red Rooster, which was written by Eric Kimmel. She lives in Jersey City, New Jersey, with her husband, Alex Melamid, who is a painter, and their two sons.

This book was written with the help of Katya's good friend Sam Swope, who is a writer, teacher, and the author of the children's book The Araboolies of Liberty Street.
