Why It Works

At Bookelicious, we match readers with books they truly want to read. Decades of research have identified three key levers of reading motivation.

Kids’ choice

Our book-matching system combines these elements to help kids pick books they’ll LOVE! We start with a collection of more than 25,000 books, curated with the help of nationally renowned teachers and librarians – the people who know the books that kids love.

And we incorporate these great books into our fun, gamified bookmoji system. Kids create their bookmojis and choose items that represent their interests; our AI-enabled system uses that information to suggest books they may like. How do we know it works? Before using Bookelicious, 36% of kids found it easy to find books they wanted to read. When using Bookelicious, that number jumped to 80%.

Bookelicious in Action

Library Refresh in Arizona

After three years of stagnation due to the COVID 19 pandemic and decreased budgets, classroom libraries in this district were in great need of an update. We worked with the district to apply for and utilize ESSER funds to update their classroom libraries with great new books geared towards their students’ interests.

Closer Home/School Connection in Ohio

The district wanted to deepen the home-school connection and get kids excited about books they could own and have in their homes. Our Choice and Voice program allowed all 30,000+ children in the district to choose four books from the most popular books in the market. Even better, the books were packaged and labeled by child and by classroom to make distribution easier and minimize effort required of teachers.

Successful ESSER Proposal in Virginia

This district had a specific budget with ESSER funds for post-COVID social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives. We worked with the district to finalize the ESSER proposal and deliver 22,000 SEL-focused, newly released titles that engage kids – from the cover to the final pages – to all K-5 district classrooms.
