Carole Aufranc is an illustrator based in Switzerland. She holds a Master's in Children's Book Illustration from the University of Cambridge. She creates work for all kind of formats: children's books, stationery, magazines and textile. She uses a special hybrid handmade and digital papercut and collage technique. She developed her craft over the years, drawing inspiration especially from her love for nature, nordic simplicity and mid-century art. She has done illustration and covers for many publishers, including NorthSouth Books, Simon and Schuster, Plume de Carotte and Moppet Books.
Johanna Louise Spyri (1827-1901) was a Swiss author of novels, notably children's stories. Born near Zurich, Switzerland, Spyri spent several summers near Chur in Graubünden as a child, the setting she would later use in Heidi. She wrote Heidi in 1880. Appearing in more than 50 languages, it is one of the bestselling books of all time, selling more than 50 million copies.
