Gr 2-6--Lomax, a paleontologist, provides children with a brightly colored guide to prehistoric animals and plants. Each page has between four and six blurbs and pictures. The pictures include sketches, photographs, and realistic illustrations. Prehistoric plant and animal species from around the world are represented. Many species have an entire page devoted to explanation for the reader, including a pronunciation guide, fact finder list, and other interesting information. The fact finder list includes species length or height, the period in which they lived, where they were located, and what they ate. There is an index and glossary in the back of the book.
